Northern Ontario Karting Championship Prepares for Double-Header Weekend in Sutton

Gilford, Ontario – May 23, 2012 – After a successful start to the 2012 Northern Ontario Karting Championship (NOKC) last month at Innisfil Indy, series officials are already looking towards the second race weekend of the season. Set for the first weekend of June at 3-S Go-Karts in Sutton, Ontario, new developments have deemed the Sutton round a double-header event, as series competitors will take to the challenging 3-S circuit for Rounds #2 and 3 of the six round series. NOKC is hard at work planning for the first double-header event and looks for the event to go off without a hitch as it is the first occasion the series has left the Innisfil Indy facility.

Always keeping the best interests of their series competitors in mind, and ways to keep costs down, the NOKC would like feedback from drivers regarding tire usage at the next event. With the just announced double-header format on schedule for Sutton, the NOKC would like to ask series competitors their opinion on running only one set of tires for both race days. Please send your feedback to racing@innisfilindy.com. An announcement on the final decision regarding tires for Sutton will for forthcoming.

The NOKC continues to offer one of the most rewarding prize offerings in Canadian karting. Podium finishers in both two-cycle and four-cycle classes with a minimum of ten entries will receive race day cash prizes of $300 for first, $200 for second, and $100 for third. With the double-header race format now in place for Sutton, series competitors could walk away from the weekend with some serious cash in their pockets. Not to be done there, the NOKC is also continuing their program to send series drivers to compete on the international stage, as two two-cycle champions will be awarded sponsorship to the Bridgestone Cup or the Rok Cup International final in October in Italy.

Rounds #2 and 3 are set for June 1-3 at 3-S Go-Karts followed by a second double-header weekend over the Canada Day long weekend June 30-July 1 at Shannonville Motorsport Park.

The NOKC is a regional qualifying series for the Rotax Max Challenge. The 2012 NOKC series will host six events at Innisfil Indy, Sutton and Shannonville and is operated by the Innisfil Kart Club. For more information on the NOKC, visit www.nokc.ca or call 905-775-4686.
