For years the chance to win one of the most coveted awards in karting, “The Bear”, has been enough to draw huge classes for the annual Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship Series (BSRKC) races at Shannonville Motorsport Park.  This year, adding to the excitement, is the chance for entrants in the newly added Briggs and Stratton classes to win cash too.

This special event follows a double-header format that brings the 2013 BSRKC season to a successful close crowning new Champions in every class.  With championships and a cash purse of over $7,000.00 on the line, this is one weekend where racers will make Shannonville Motorsport Park their destination choice.

The five day event starts with two full days of practice on Wednesday, July 31, and Thursday, August 1st.  Every class will get plenty of practice time.  The racing action gets started on Friday, August 2nd and continues through to Sunday, August 4th with twenty-seven classes racing over the three days.  By Sunday afternoon 27 Bears will find new homes.  The winner of the Cadet class will take a Bear home on Friday.  With a full complement of 2-cycle classes, three Junior Honda classes, three Senior Honda classes, three Briggs classes, Novice, and Honda Masters classes each racing twice, every entrant will be able to race on at least two of the three days, and most will have the option of racing multiple classes every day.

The Series recently issued a Press Release announcing that Kelly Michaud from KDM Racing added $1,000.00 to this year’s Briggs prize fund.  This will be awarded through a draw from all of the eligible Briggs and Stratton Junior, Senior, and Masters class racers that take the green flag on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.  The draw for the $1,000.00 will take place on Sunday afternoon during the trophy presentations.

As always, each official BSKRC class with ten entries or more awards $175.00 for first place, $150.00 for second place, and $50.00 for third place.  With the double-header weekend format, there are sure to be some karters taking home a hefty sum of prize money to show for their efforts.

The principals and organizers of the BSRKC Series, together with the Simcoe Kart Club and the Waterloo Regional Kart Club, recognize that all of this is only possible through the generous support of the event sponsors.  Stepping up to the plate this year, in addition to the already mentioned KDM Racing and Kelly Michaud are: Canadian Insurance Brokers Inc. and Jason Jenkins; Canadian Tire Fergus ON., and Charles and Kathy Campbell; and 401 Dixie Nissan / Infiniti and Peter Geer. These supporters are once again sponsoring all of the cash and draw prizes for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The entry form, practice and event schedules, and information pertaining to the accommodations at the Comfort Inn host hotel, are all posted on the  HYPERLINK “http://www.BSRKC.com/”http://www.BSRKC.com website in the 2013 Schedule section.  Please note that if you miss the deadline for the Brian Stewart Racing discounted group rate, the Inn also offers a discounted rate for Shannonville Motorsport Park.

The Simcoe and Waterloo Regional kart clubs look forward to welcoming everyone at Shannonville Motorsport Park, and to handing out their hardware including the well deserved cold, hard, cash!

See you there!
