Point Pelee Karting Club Announces $4000 Prize Fund for June 7 & 8 Memorial Shootout!

The organizers of the Point Pelee Karting Club (PPKC) have announced a massive prize fund for their annual PPKC Memorial Race Weekend Shootout. Boasting over $4000.00 in cash and prizes up for grabs, the event takes place on June 7 and 8 in Leamington, Ontario at Point Pelee Karting.

Each year the PPKC pays tribute to past club members and supporters with their Memorial Race Weekend. This year the event has been moved to June in hopes to draw more drivers. It is an a double-header race weekend for both two and four cycle racers, with big prizes and excellent action expected. The family oriented atmosphere that PPKC creates is second-to-none and with more than just racing on tap for the weekend, this event is a must attend for all kart racers.

Saturday will feature the Prelude to the Shootout where the club will run their usual club race day format using the same track configuration for Sunday’s main event. The PPKC Memorial Shootout where all the prizes are available in on Sunday.

Highlighting the event will be the Senior Medium feature event. A collection of individuals have donated to the prize fund and created what should be the biggest four-cycle race of the summer. $1500.00 will be awarded to race winner, $300.00 to second place, $100.00 to third, $75.00 for fourth and $50.00 for fifth. In addition, $30.00 from each set of tires purchased for the event at Venom Racing Services will be added to the prize money for drivers finishing second through fifth, increasing the overall prize fund. Venom Racing Solutions has also donated a new, in the box Briggs & Stratton LO206 engine to be drawn for the entries in Senior Medium.

Additionally, an extra $500.00 will be awarded to the highest finishing out of town driver. The second highest out of towner will earn $150.00 cash plus a $100.00 gas card and the third highest out of towner will earn $100.00 cash and a $100.00 gas card. All of this is donated by Marc Stehle of Windsor Mobile Wash, Steven Macvoy, DeAngelis Construction, Venom Racing Solutions and CanadianKartingNews.com.

In the Novice division, $350.00 of toys will be shared among all competitors donated graciously by Quinlan Inc.

Junior Medium is sponsored by the Willis Service Center with $500.00 going to the winner, $150.00 to second and $100.00 to third. Second and third will also receive $100.00 gas cards.

Finally, for the two-cycle racers, CF Industrial has donated $500.00 to the winner of TaG Senior/Masters.

The event open to all competitors and PPKC accepts both the Briggs LO206 and Honda engines for their four-cycle classes. All classes must abide by PPKC rules. MG Red tires will be utilized in all classes, with the exception of Senior Medium which will run on Vega Blue tires. For Senior Medium, tires must be purchased at the event from VRS, to ensure maximum payback to the drivers.
