We’re Growing! Help Welcome Max Preston to the CKN Team

Last fall he grabbed the attention of the karting universe with his gut-wrenching and heart-warming piece about the David Anderson story. Through the winter he gave CKN readers an inside look at the world that is Maranello North America and the program that was developed by Trevor Wickens that helps ease racers from karts to car. Now we are extremely excited to officially welcome Max Preston to the CKN team as an official journalist to provide even more in-depth and creative pieces to our readership.

Hailing from Barrie, Ontario and still racing karts whenever he can with the Intrepid North America/Goodwood Kartways outfit, Preston is a Business Marketing major from Georgian College with a passion for motorsports public relations and is primed and ready to share more of his creative writing with the CKN Nation.

“I’m extremely excited to become the latest edition to the CKN team,” smiles Preston. “I am committed and passionate about discovering the most interesting stories from the paddock and weaving them into captivating editorials that aims to showcase our sport like never before.”

Preston began karting in the early 2000’s at the Waterloo Regional Kart Club, following in the footsteps of his older brother Chris. From club wins to international victories (he won a Florida Winter Tour race back in 2011), Preston is well educated in the sport of karting and his budding resume grows even more impressive with each piece he produces.

“When Max first approached me last summer with the David Anderson piece, I was blown away. His way with words really brings his stories to life and I’m beyond excited to work with him on a more full-time basis now,” explains Cody Schindel, owner of CKN. “We have some great stories in the pipeline for the CKN readers this summer, all based around the people and passion for our sport. Sometimes we get a little too caught up in the news reporting on track that we don’t share enough of the true excitement from the paddock. That will change with our addition of Preston.”

The first piece to air on CKN will be a feature on the Collison Racing family from Cambridge, Ontario. Sharing their story that dates back a few generations, Preston revives the family-oriented passion for karting that the Collison family embodies, the way many of us were introduced to the sport.
