SH Karting to Exclusively import Zanardi Kart

One of the most fabled teams in Canadian karting is pleased to announce today that an exciting new chapter in its history is about to unfold: effectively immediately, SH Karting is the exclusive importer and distributor for Zanardi Kart across Canada.

“I had a great meeting with Dino Chiesa this week in Italy and our relationship has started on a very good note!” explained SH Karting Manager Sacha Gagnon in announcing the news. “Dino was very supportive of what we do on and off-track, and is very positive about the future with SH Karting partnering with Zanardi Kart.”

SH Karting will begin its changeover shortly and will debut its new race line at the grandest of Canadian karting events – the ASN Canadian National Championships, August 22-25 in Mont-Tremblant.

“We just cannot wait for the chassis to arrive in a couple of weeks and to begin testing,” said SH Karting’s Guillaume Aube. “Everyone at SH is very excited about Zanardi and we are very excited to be able to debut our new Zanardi Karts at the Canadian Nationals.”

Built in Italy, the Zanardi Kart chassis is the result of a collaboration between former Formula One and Champcar star Alex Zanardi and Dino Chiesa, one of the most respected names in karting and the man who ran Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg as karting teammates. Four months after Zanardi Kart was launched, works driver Martin Plowman won the Asia-Pacific Championship at Suzuka, Japan, and its been winning ever since. Over the last two seasons, works driver Nyck DeVries earned back-to-back KF1 World Championships with Zanardi Kart and in 2011 alone scored nine wins, thirteen podiums and fifteen fastest laps in twenty World Championship races. Matthew Graham has also won the CIK-FIA U18 World Championship in 2011.

SH Karting will be in the paddock this weekend at Le Monaco de Trois-Rivières as it seeks to close its current chapter with a Rotax Senior Championship for Steven Szigeti. The SH Karting driver is the reigning Canadian National Champion and is looking to secure his second-consecutive trip to the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals racing for SH. After two days of practice on Thursday and Friday, SH Karting team members will race both the Coupe de Quebec on Saturday and the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship finale on Sunday.
