Rotax Pan Am: Two Heat Wins for Danny Formal in DD2

Back in action for the second day of competition, the 2013 Rotax Pan American Challenge returned to NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA to more humidity, sunshine, and great racing action. Saturday played host to the second and third round of heat races for all classes and was capped off by a Last Chance Race for Rotax Junior.

Things have been less exciting than expected in Rotax DD2 thus far. Saturday saw Florida’s Daniel Formal (TonyKart) cruise to two heats wins, with Canadian Pier-Luc Ouellette (CRG) second in both. The duo will start on the front row for the Prefinal.

After winning heat 1, Hungarian Ferenc Kancsar (CRG) scored a DNF in heat two, but rebounded nicely in heat three to finish third, holding off a late charge by Belgian Xen de Ruwe (CRG). De Ruwe scored a 4-3-4 after starting ninth in all three heats, meaning he will start third for the Prefinal. American Fritz Leesmann (CRG) and Swedens Andrea Bäckman (TonyKart) complete the top five in the points, both enjoying solid heats, while Ferenc ended up sixth.

Sunday will feature a Prefinal and Final for all classes to determine the Pan American Champions as well as the final tickets to next months Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals.
