The SH Karting team recently travelled to the Jim Russell Karting Academy for the annual ASN Canadian Karting Championships. With 23 entries utilizing the SH Karting brand, products, and services, the team entered the event with plenty of confidence. The race was also the debut for many SH drivers on their new Zanardi Kart chassis. SH Karting drivers dominated two of the most competitive classes at the Nationals taking victories on Rotax Junior and Rotax Senior. The team also earned pole-positions in Rotax Senior and Rotax DD2.
“I’m very happy with the results of our entire team in Tremblant,” exclaimed SH Karting team manager Sacha Gagnon. “To earn two Canadian Championships in the fashion we did is incredible, our drivers drove amazing!”
SH Karting’s dominance in the Rotax Senior category has been noticed all season long and this weekend was no different. In timed qualifying, Jesse Lazare placed his SH Karting TonyKart on the pole-position with a blistering out lap. Lazare’s dominance did not stop there and the rookie Rotax Senior driver would go undefeated from that point on en route to the Canadian Championship title, his third in total. The final would see Lazare and teammate Steven Szigeti break away early, and push each other to their limits, with neither making a mistake through the twenty-lap final. Adding a third SH Karting driver to the top-five, Marc-André Lévesque would finish fifth.
“Jesse and Steven drove incredible this weekend, especially in the final,” continued Gagnon. “They pushed each other every lap, and neither made a mistake.”
The success for SH Karting didn’t stop there, as in the Rotax Junior division Tommy Lamaire-Ouellet scored a second convincing victory for SH. Qualifying his SH Karting TonyKart in second, Lamaire was in the hunt all weekend and come Sunday he left the class behind winning the pre final and the final by over six seconds! Alexandre Lacroix added a top-ten for SH Karting finishing ninth, while Alexandre Couturier just missed the top-ten in his debut on the Zanardi Kart finishing eleventh.
This years Rotax DD2 class at the Canadian Championships featured a full roster of accomplished drivers that included five Rotax Grand Finals World Championships and nine drivers that had competed at the Grand Finals in previous years. SH Ontario’s Darren White competed in his first proper race of the season and placed his TonyKart on the pole-position in Qualifying before winning two of the three heat races. However for White it would all come crashing down in the pre final. Forced to start from twenty-fifth in the Final, White would put forth an incredible drive to finish sixth. Hugo Mousseau also made his return to racing this weekend and finished a respectable eleventh aboard a SH Karting Zanardi Kart.
Steven Szigeti would earn his second podium of the weekend in the Briggs & Stratton Senior division. Szigeti led many times throughout the intense final including on the final lap, but would cross the finish line in third. In the Rotax DD2 Masters class, Jean-Philippe Raymond finished fifth.
The SH Karting Team cannot thank their supporters enough after this very successful weekend.
