PR: Ledson Motorsports earns podium finishes in both Legends and Karting

With their 2012 season in full swing, Ledson Motorsports has been busy on track taking in Ontario Legends action as well as karting events with the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship (BSRKC) and Simcoe Kart Club. Team drivers Nicholas and Cole Ledson have both been impressive in their respective ranks, with Nicholas recently earning his first podium position during his rookie season in the Ontario Legends series, and Cole taking yet another podium in the competitive BSRKC series.

After a successful debut in Ontario Legends action, Nicholas has continued to turn heads during his rookie season running the 5/8-scale model car series. In his second event, two fourth place heat race results during the May 26 event in Barrie led to a tenth place in the feature. Heading over to Peterborough for the June 9 race, Nicholas would score fourth and fifth place results in the heats before taking ninth in the feature race. With a karting event postponed, Nicholas had an open day June 17 and headed to the Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania to take in yet another Legends event, finishing 11th in a field of 28. Continuing his improvement, Nicholas would next take on Kawartha on June 22. Taking fourth in heat one and second in heat three, Nicholas went on to finish eighth in the feature.

The next day, Saturday, June 23, saw the rising talent again in Legends action, returning to the Peterborough circuit. Scoring fourth in heat one, Nicholas turned up the wick in heat three to take second and then went on to earn his first podium in a feature race with a third place result. Taking on Mosport this past Saturday, Nicholas then bettered his previous podium result, taking second place honours during the June 30 event. Never slowing down, Nicholas and the Ledson crew then headed back to the states on Sunday, July 1. Taking on the Chemung Speedrome in Chumung, New York, Nicholas came home with another solid finish, taking fifth in the feature race. Nicholas currently is fifth in the overall Ontario Legends series, and will next see action again at the Peterborough circuit July 7.

In karting action, younger brother Cole continues to impress, as does Nicholas in his rookie season in the senior ranks. Taking on the second round of the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship over the June 8-10 weekend, both boys would vie not only for BSRKC points, but Simcoe Kart Club points as well. With a lot at stake, both Ledson brothers would wind up with strong finishes in their respective classes.

Cole would see action in both Junior Medium and Junior Lite. Clocking third fast in qualifying for both classes, the youngest Ledson would finish fifth in the Junior Medium final, and then add another podium finish in Junior Lite with his second place run. Nicholas would also take on two classes. A second place qualifying effort in Senior Medium, ended with a disappointing eighth place result in the prefinal. A great run in the final however yielded Nicholas a third place podium result. In Senior Lite, Nicholas would score a sixth place finish in the final. Ledson Motosports will next see more karting action July 8 with a Simcoe Kart Club event, with the BSRKC resuming July 20-22 at Point Pelee Karting.
