PR: Impressive Results for Mega Racing at Florida Winter Tour Opener

Mega Racings Joshua Cunha returns from round 1 of the Florida Winter Tour with impressive results. With almost a week of testing on the brand new Intrepid chassis, Joshua found a comfort zone on the very technical Homestead Karting circuit early. Qualifying was scheduled for Friday and expectations were high.

However qualifying was difficult to say the least. With a very deep field of 30 International Micro-Max competitors, teams were buzzing in the pits as race engines and tires were installed. As traditional at the FWT Sundays qualifying would be first. Unfortunately slight contact

with another kart resulted in a flat tire on lap 3 which ended Joshua’s chances early. With only three laps on record Joshua was classified 15th. Saturday Qualifying was next. Unfazed by his unfortunate luck earlier, Joshua was able to qualify second in group and eighth overall.

Saturday morning and Race 1 had finally arrived. After a difficult Prefinal Joshua would start in the 11th spot for the main event. An impressive drive, ended with a 6th place result. With the entire team buzzing Race 2 couldn’t start early enough.

Starting the Sunday Prefinal in 15th, another hard fought race saw Joshua only able to advance to 13th. On grid for the main was a surprise for the Micro Max Class. Rubans Barriciello, Max Papis, Juan Paublo Montoya and Tony Kanaan made an appearance to wish all the kids well. Either this or something else lit a fire in Joshua, as he would drive an incredible Final getting himself as high as third before finishing fourth and setting fastest race lap. Results good enough to ranks fifth in championship points heading into race 3 and 4.

A Special thanks to Mega Trim Carpentry, N.Darrigos.Racing, Goodwood Kartways and Sofina Foods for their ongoing support.
