Jeff Kingsley Cruises in the Rotax DD2 National Final

Seeking to defend his National title from a year ago, Pier-Luc Ouellette (KMS/Birel) started where he needed to as the two-time Rotax Grand Finals champion led the field to green from the pole-position.

Ouellette took the jump at the start as an impressive move by Fred Woodley (Maranello North America/Maranello) moved him up to second after starting fourth with Bryce Choquer (BBR/Birel) also getting by Jeff Kingsley (PSL/CRG) who started off-pole.

Unfortunately for Ouellette an apparent battery issue ended his chances less than a lap in, and even though he tried to get out of the way in the very tight final sector, Ouellette was run over by Woodley and Choquer allowing Kingsley to assume the lead.

The mayhem slowed up the entire group with the exception of Kingsley, who was driving off into the distance.

Woodley fell back to sixth and went back on the offence to regain the positions he lost, consistently posting fast laps as he picked off karts in front of him.

With Kingsley out of reach, Woodley worked back up to the rear bumper of Alessandro Bizzotto (PSL/CRG) who had assumed the second position. Woodley made his move for second in the hairpin, but Bizzotto wasn’t willing to give up that easily.

Bizzotto looked for any opportunity on the final lap to regain the second position but he just didn’t have enough.

With a dominating run, Kingsley returned to the top of the National podium in Mont-Tremblant, as he scored his first National title there in Mini-Max only four years ago.

A disappointed Woodley wound up second and Bizzotto third. Kingsley’s victory secured his position on Team Canada for the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in Valencia, Spain this November.
