Discussion: Should Canadian karting introduce a claim rule for Micro and Mini-Max?

This past week we have seen a flurry of conversation about the costs associated with kart racing, specifically in our youngest divisions. No doubt, the costs involved in the sport has risen in recent years, but at what point does it become too much? The Micro and Mini-Max classes need to grow in order for our sports future to succeed. We have already seen the Coupe du Quebec reintroduce the claim rule for Micro-Max in 2014 and could this be the direction of the future to keep costs down?

So we want to hear from you!

Using the comments section below, and preferably your real name, let us know your thoughts about whether or not you feel a claim rule should be introduced nationwide for the Rotax Micro-Max and/or Mini-Max classes, where developing our young driving talent should be the highest priority and not the engine that powers them. **To clarify, a claim rule allows fellow competitors in a single class to claim the engine of a competitor for a set fee.

We are also open to other suggestions, but please keep the conversation clean, with no finger pointing accepted. We want to solve the problem, not create a new one.

Please spread the word on this discussion, so we can gain as many responses as possible to help move this topic forward.

Do you think a nationwide claim rule should be introduced for the Micro-Man and/or Mini-Max classes?
