PR: Devlin Defrancesco Sets his Sights on Winning Another Canadian Championship

Coming off a top-ten finish at the Rotax Max Challenge United States Grand Nationals, tri-citizen Devlin DeFrancesco will turn his focus north of the border this week as he takes on the Rotax Junior class at Goodwood Kartways in Stouffville, Ontario for the 2013 ASN Canada FIA Canadian Karting Championships. Looking to top the blocks and claim another Canadian National title, the globe-trotting 13-year-old is sure to be a contender at the 10-turn, 1km Goodwood facility.

“While I have been focused on racing in Europe over the last two years, I always love coming back to race on North American soil and especially at Canada’s Goodwood Kartways,” explained Devlin. “I have competed in a few events at the facility in the past couple months and I feel we have a good package to challenge for the top step of the podium.”

DeFrancesco will compete aboard a Supertune USA powered TonyKart out of the DFR stable. Under the watchful eyes of Will Thompson, Ben Cruttenden and Nick Mitchell, DeFrancesco will be one to keep an eye on throughout the five day event.

Most recently, Devlin tackled the talent-laden, 60 kart strong Rotax Junior field at the US Rotax Grand Nationals, posting a respectable top-ten result. Coming home eighth in the final, DeFrancesco was the best performing rookie as one of the youngest competitors in the class.

Practice for the ASN Canada FIA Canadian Karting Championships is set to get underway Wednesday and Thursday, August 21 and 22, with SuperPole qualifying and heat one set for Friday. Saturday will follow with the final two heat races, setting grids for the prefinal and final on Championship Sunday. Immediately following the Canadian Nationals, DeFrancesco will get on a plane the next day and return to Europe to contest the KF Junior Supercup at the famed “PF International Raceway” in the United Kingdom.
