CKN ECKC Power Rankings: Rotax DD2 #2

Round three of the 2013 Eastern Canadian Karting Championship hits the track this weekend at the popular Le Monaco de Trois Rivieres in Quebec. The street race is held on the grounds of the GP3R street circuit that one week after kart racers invade the area, will host a car race with the likes of Nascar Canada, F1600, Canadian Touring Car and more. The Coupe du Quebec will run the show on Saturday this weekend with ECKC taking over for Sunday’s event making it only one points scoring race for ECKC competitors.

CKN has racked up the results after round two at Goodwood Kartways and have prepared our second edition of our 2013 ECKC Power Rankings. In some classes there is a major shakeup, while in others things have stayed pretty much the same. Nonetheless, drivers are still rewarded for consistency throughout every race and qualifying session and finishing every race could make or break their ranking.

Here is CKN’s Power Rankings of Rotax DD2 drivers and who to watch this weekend.

Rank +/- Driver Remarks
1 0 Ben Cooper Cooper welcomed the Pier-Luc Ouellette back to the DD2 class at Goodwood and the two put down some great racing. Scoring only one victory on the weekend, Cooper maintains the top spot in our rankings.
2 0 Marco Di Leo DiLeo wasn’t quite able to battle at the front with Cooper and Ouellette, but we can all but assure you he will be ready for Nationals when Canada’s best return to his track.
3 +2 Brendan Bain Bain moves up two after a weekend of constant battles in the top-four. Capping off his weekend with a podium, Bain heads to Le Monaco with plenty of momentum and has a great shot at the ECKC ticket to the Grand Finals.
4 -1 Fred Woodley Losing a spot to his teammate after the rounds at Goodwood, Woodley will be looking to put himself back in the ECKC championship hunt this weekend.
5 +7 Pier-Luc Ouellette In his return to action, Pier-Luc didn’t look like he had seven months off since his last race. Battling with Cooper on Saturday for the win but ultimately finishing second, Ouellette left his mark on Sunday by dominating the Final.

Drivers to Watch:

It doesn’t appear that any new faces will be competing this weekend at Le Monaco, but the usual players will be in attendance with Enrico Menotti, Tyler MacEwan and Alessandro Bizzotto.
