EDKRA will host the 2013 Western Canadian Championships Finals Event

By MaxChallenge.ca

Already scheduled to take place on July 26-28, the Western Canadian Challenge will hit the Warburg kart track. The event will be hosted by the Edmonton & District Kart Racing Association kart club.

For Patrick Moreau, coordinator of the WCC, this announcement is a milestone for the new season. “The Western Canada karting community covers a very large territory and when the time comes to find a place for an important event such as the final event of the WCC, there are many criteria to take care of. The track itself and the facility, the location, considering the long distances some competitors must travel and the commitment of the local club in the organization are the most important. I think the fact that Alberta is a central point for the community and the layout of the track will attract many competitors and will provide a very challenging competition. The WCC final is the first Canadian event which will qualify drivers to participate at the 2013 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals. The fact the Grand Finals are taking place in North America this year (New-Orleans, Louisiana) will be an additional motivation for Canadian drivers to be there. Don’t forget that Micro-Max and Mini-Max classes will be on the program of the RMCGF and the WCC will offer 3 spots in each of these two classes”.

For the EDKRA’s representative, Kevin Dowler, the Warburg kart track is a well kept secret. “The new Warburg kart track is a fairly new facility (first race in 2010) but every year brings improvements. The first step was of course the track itself but money is invested every year in order to continue to improve the facility and offer competitors a fantastic environment. After the timing tower which can be operated even in case of power failure and the addition of electrical terminals in many areas of the paddock, this year will bring a new weight scale and technical inspection building. The club will put all necessary efforts to prepare a top class event”.
