The second half of the double-header weekend at Mosport International Karting featured much nicer weather conditions for the opening round of the 2014 Eastern Canadian Karting Championship. With the rumble of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series roaring by on the CTMP track, Sunday was full of octane at the entire Mosport facility including excellent kart racing.

Nearly doubling their numbers from 2013, Briggs & Stratton Masters is the fastest growing class at the ECKC. 15 drivers entered this weekends event and showcased great racing on both days of competition.

On Saturday Corey Walsh (CRG) was able to out-muscle Kevin Barrick (K&K Kart) in a two-kart shootout for the win. Walsh worked into the lead on the final lap then ran a perfect defensive line to hold off Barrick. Michael Forget finished third.

Sunday was again Walsh vs Barrick but Sylvain Coursol (Arrow) joined the mix, spicing things up. Out front from the start, Barrick fought off challenges from both drivers to earn the win as Walsh overcame Coursol for the second step of the podium.

Round two of the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship will be held at Goodwood Kartways near Stouffville, Ontario on June 27-29.
