PR: SH Racing Scores Three Victories at Opening Round of Coupe du Quebec Championship

The SH Racing (SHR) Team didn’t have to travel far for their first Canadian event of the season as the Coupe du Quebec Championship kicked off at their home track of SH Karting in Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec. Entering a solid lineup of drivers and staff for the race weekend, team SHR drivers scored three victories along with a podium sweep in Rotax Junior to make an early statement for the 2014 season.

Under the new SHR team tent, eight drivers were aboard FA Karts, while a handful of drivers also supported the SHR brand through their privateer efforts.

Highlighting the weekends event was the sweep in Rotax Junior as Cedrik Lupien was flawless en route to the victory with teammates Alex Lacroix and Samuel Lupien joining him on the podium. In addition, Charles Robin finished in fifth place to place four SHR FA Karts in the top-five.

In Rotax Senior, Jesse Lazare returned to the team and didn’t disappoint. Lazare was the fastest in Qualifying, won the prefinal and drove away with the victory in the Final. Dave Laplante was also in action in Rotax Senior and he earned an eighth place result.

But SHR wasn’t done there as Thomas Nepveu added a third victory for the team in Micro-Max. Nepveu is the defending class-champion and like Lazare and Lupien, he was undefeated all day long leading each and every session. New to the team for 2014, Jeremy Roy enjoyed a great first day of competition and finished seventh in Micro-Max, one position behind Matthew Burke, another SHR driver.

A quick turnaround for the team has them travelling to Ontario this week for the opening round of the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship at Mosport International Karting near Bowmanville, Ontario. The team is travelling with eleven drivers and high hopes to continue their early season form.

Sacha Gagnon, SH Racing Team Principal:
“I am really happy this year with the switch to FA Karts and the drivers under our tent performed very good this past weekend.  We have Alexandre Vincent tuning our team engines now and also added Christian Gagnon and Devin Cunningham for chassis tuning and driver coaching. With our new setup and a good staff, our results will continue all season long.”

Cedrik Lupien, Rotax Junior Race Winner:
It was a fresh start for me this year; new chassis, new team, new coach and I was really happy to score my first victory of the season with SHR. My coach Devin Cunningham, SH Racing and I worked really hard and it paid off with our result. The atmosphere in the SH Racing tent is very positive which is also really helpful. Working with my new coach Devin was a great success and I think all this put together is why we ended up with a great victory.”
