2015 Cold Stone Florida Winter Tour Enters Final Rounds with Championships, Awards and Prizes on the Line in Every Class

With the final event weekends in the 2015 Cold Stone Florida Winter Tour on the horizon, MAXSpeed Entertainment and their experienced staff have been working tirelessly to promote and put on the best Florida Winter Tour to date. With an exciting format for the championship finale weekends and over $120,000 in awards and prizes to be given away, all class championships on both the ROK Cup USA and Rotax MAX Challenge weekends have yet to be decided.

“It is amazing that we can go into the final event weekend and not have one single championship secured,” explained MAXSpeed Entertainment’s Garett Potter. “This is a true testament to the level of competition that the Tour has to offer as well as the preparedness and readiness of all the teams and competitors to attack every on track, off track and weather situation that comes to the forefront.”

Entering the final event weekends, a point structure that was put in place before the first green flag flew back in early January will provide excitement to the final checkered flag in a few weeks time. With Qualifying and Final fast lap bonus points on the line, each competitor will have the opportunity to secure points in three Heats as well as the Pre-Final and Final events. If a driver is able to sweep the weekend and the 310 point total that goes along with it, they will set themselves up for a shot at the title. Complete series point structure can be found HERE.

Potter continued, “We have had some confusion about droppable races as the best four out of five events count towards the overall series title. With extra points on the line in Ocala, we will have to see what the outcome is. The final event in Ocala is a one that can be dropped, but with so many points up for grabs and the new format it will certainly add excitement to the finales.”

Along with championships, MAXSpeed Entertainment will be awarding more than $120,000 in awards and prizes to series competitors. For the ROK Cup USA portion of the Cold Stone Florida Winter Tour presented by MG Tires, tickets to the ROK Cup International Final are on the line for champions in Vortex Mini ROK, Junior ROK, Senior ROK, Masters ROK, Shifter ROK and Shifter Masters ROK. These tickets will include chassis, engine, kart stand, one set of race tires, race fuel and entry to the ROK International Final in South Garda, Italy in October of this year.

Also on the prize giving side of things, one ticket will be awarded to the annual Granja 500 in Brazil courtesy of MG Tires. Included in the prize will be airfare, hotel and all race expenses, a total value in excess of $8,000.00. The competitor winning this award will need to be at least 18 years of age before November of 2015. All qualified ROK class champions will be entered into draw to choose the winner.

The following weekend will see the close of the Rotax MAX Challenge events at the Cold Stone Florida Winter Tour presented by Chase Racing & Brash Racing. Five tickets to the annual Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals will be on the line as the champion in Rotax Junior MAX, Senior MAX, Masters MAX, DD2 MAX and DD2 MAX Masters will join their respective country at the Olympic style karting event, set for November 8-14, 2015 at the International Karting Circuit of Portimão in Algarve, Portugal. Award winners will receive the use of a new chassis, Rotax engine, kart stand, three sets of event regulated tires, race fuel, a complete set of working tools and XPS products including chain lube, brake cleaners and more.

The final day of the 2015 Cold Stone Florida Winter Tour Powered by MAXSpeed Entertainment will also see the Dan Wheldon Ambassador Award presented to a Florida Winter Tour competitor. Set to be given away during the Rotax MAX Challenge weekend on Sunday’s lunch break, MAXSpeed Entertainment would like to continue to encourage everyone to nominate who they think should win the award. Please see Mike Maurini in the paddock or send your nomination in via email to DWAward@FloridaWinterTour.com.

“This is our first attempt at the Florida Winter Tour and we will get even better in the years to come,” explained MAXSpeed President Richard Boisclair. “We have a great team of employees, a fantastic group of racers and teams and some of the strongest supporters in the karting industry. Working as a team to better the sport, we are already working on plans for the 2016 Florida Winter Tour. Good luck to all the teams and racers in the upcoming events.”
